"Fixes:" wait a year and see if it's anything more than new-ness. dig up and reseed the "old" lawn with the "new" seed. One of these is a lot less work than the other......

Can mowing weeds cause them to spread?

Highly unlikely that your mulching mower is causing cuttings to grow. The cut weed parts won't have good soil contact and will dry out and die. Weeds that have gone to seed stand a better chance of ...

Lawn Care Question: Battery vs. Gas Powered

Depending on you, and lot size, decent (i.e. not poorly made stuff that doesn't actually work) manual equipment should also be considered, as it offers the same advantages of no gas cans, no clogged ...

Can mowing weeds cause them to spread?

Violets, maybe. But not thistles, unless you cut them when they have seeded. As far as I know, thistles will grow from root cuttings, but not stem or leaves.

Why is my fescue wilting?

I'm no expert but growing a lawn two inches over a membrane definitely doesn't sound a good idea. The membrane will prevent the grass roots growing down into the underlying soil. That means the lawn ...

Petrol mower for the one reason that it can be left outside, but I don't really like petrol powered devices

I'm not trying to be funny but my neighbor keeps his mower and trimmer outside all year round. They work for a few years then he has to buy a new one. I suggest a tiny shed or small packing crate for ...

Start here where they appear to be loose, and pull them up, using your hands and/or a prybar as needed, proceeding up and to the right. If you are removing these and the upper brick retaining walls, ...

Some animal is turning over my lawn roots. How to fix it?

Preventing it would apparently be a matter of not having a tasty grub population. That will probably help the turf health, given the habits of many grubs living under lawns eating the grass roots...if ...

Some animal is turning over my lawn roots. How to fix it?

A cat wont do this, so a cat repeller wont work. If you are treating it like a lawn, then you need to level it out somehow. A roller would work well, perhaps you can rent one. Then just sprinkle seed ...
