I started my purple passion plant from clippings in May. In early August I started seeing what looked like the start of flower bulbs. They started blooming a little over a week ago (late August) and I've been cutting them off (as I understand most people do because they smell bad). This is not a problem except that I am reading that this usually happens after 2-3 years and the plant starts dying off after the bloom. So, this leaves me with 2 questions:

  1. Is it odd or problematic that it bloomed so fast? Is the plant already at the end of its life?

  2. Can I just take clippings to propagate the plant as normal? Will the new plants restart their supposed 2-3 year life cycle?
