We have a Draceana marginata for 3-4 years now that is generally growing well and happy. We have cut it back last summer, propagated the cuttings and planted them back to the mother plant's pot to get a more bushier, more full pot.
We also did it partly because we have seen images of older specimens that had very thin and long trunk and branches which we find less desirable. This is how the plant looks like now:
The trunk is around 1.5 cm wide while the branches are less than 1 cm. Will the cut back encourage the plant to grow for its trunk? Is there anything else that could be done to get wider/thicker trunk and branches over the years?
