I just found out that a cactus I was given is a San Pedro cactus. I have had it for three years on my screen porch and it has tripled in height. Recently I found it tipped over with the top 11” broken off. The bottom/ broken end of the top part is black. The top/broken end of the main plant is jagged and rough. I have re-potted the bottom part into a heavier pot. Should I cut the broken top end so it is even? Should I cut the bottom of the broken off piece and wait for it to cleanly dry? Please advise.

Thanks❣️😊🙏🌵 I will try to add photo.
