We planted this prunus okame last year, and according to this website it should be pruned after flowering for the first couple of years. I am thinking to prune off the lower branches as it is close to a fence and eventually we would like the canopy to all be above fence level. I also wasn't sure whether to keep both or just one of the two main branches which make a 'v' just below the middle fence strut prunus okame from front.

The top branches at the back lean out over the fence (to the right it image below) - should these be shortened?
