I have several cacti plants (sabila), just like the one in the picture, and I have several cut wine bottles. I would like to place several of them around our balcony, but without using soil.

My initial idea was to put each cactus in a bottle filled with water, but I already know that this would eventually kill the cactus. I also searched a little about hydroponics, but that's something new to me.

So what can I do to accomplish this?

This is what I have:

  • Several cacti
  • Several cut wine bottles, like the one below. I will not buy any other containers (it's either the wine bottle or nothing).

Regarding the maintenance, I can work with them (clean/trim, anything else) once a week (during the weekends). I can water them daily, if needed.

What do you suggest?

Your other question and its answer really answers this; those containers aren't suitable for hydroponic growing, and there's no other way of growing cacti in water. I suggest you use the cut down bottles as vases for cut flowers instead, especially since they have no drainage holes. – Bamboo Aug 29 '19 at 11:43
