We just moved into a new home which had fresh Bermuda sod just laid a few months ago. Now that growing season has kicked in, it appears our "sod" was filled with more weeds than grass. enter image description here

Is this normal until the bermuda is vibrant enough to push them out? Or should we take some aggressive steps to remove these immediately?

Location: Texas, USA

  • What sort of desert caliche is under the sod, and how far down? caliche: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caliche If there is not at least a little decent soil, your Bermuda may be dying. What do your neighbor's lawns look like? Are you watering, or is it raining, enough? – Wayfaring Stranger Apr 27 '19 at 19:16
