Nov 28, 2017 at 9:20 | comment | added | Brōtsyorfuzthrāx | The scape is the long, green stalk that has the flower at the very top (it's often the tallest part of the garlic plant; onions are another kind of plant that get them when they go to seed). It's still there after the flower comes, but they say to take it off somewhat before the flower opens up (I'm guessing it gets more fibrous after that period of time, but I don't know).
