comment What is a practical strategy for removing dandelions and bull-thistle from my lawn without them returning?
Other answers were about being grass only and about herbicides. I wanted to provide another viewpoint. Glad to hear you share it.

comment Which of these, if any, are poison ivy?
We have an acre an a half, so after the chemicals we just steer clear of the area for at least a few weeks. At no point does anyone touch the plants, alive or dead. The plants themselves sort of disappear after the treatment, presumably decomposing. The oils will disperse eventually.

where are you located? do you have any idea how old the plant is? Does it always look like this, or does it sometimes flower or otherwise do something different?

comment Can anyone identify this plant found in a rooftop garden?
aka Asters in North America. The key is the purple petals that resemble a daisy, around a yellow centre. And that they bloom in the fall.
