Why won't my venus fly trap eat? Followup: on the box elder bug's expiry date, I fed it to the plant with tweezers. The wide open traps with hairs pointing out would not take it. Third time, one of the mostly closed traps took it. Yeah! |

How do I reduce the amount of fruit my pear tree produces? Do you get any mature fruit? If it is dropping everything as small fruit, how long between flowering and fruit drop? The tree may have problems which you can address to get better fruit (maybe it's poorly pollinated!), but that doesn't sound like your present goal. |

How do I care for potted apple seedlings over the winter? I was just researching this for myself: I have six bench grafts in pots. You probably want them to go winter dormant. Important thing is nit to let the roots freeze or dry out. Some people store them bare root (in moist medium) or temporarily planted in the garden or by burying the bucket. |

Is it possible to graft fruit/flowering trees onto a well established jacaranda tree? You should practice cleft grafting using 1 year old sprouts from this same tree until you have that skill. My next bet would be another jacaranda variety. I doubt there is a fruit tree that is compatible but would like to understand why. Finally, you get to choose the rootstock on new trees but economics can dictate grafting new scions on commercially undesirable but mature fruit trees. Which would then be an interstem combination of 3 varieties. |

What are some good landscape design planning softwares? I designed my yard in Vectorworks and hated the process. The problem is that CAD focuses you on precision when it's not warranted. Sketchup frees you up a little. But I was more productive designing in game software like Railroad Tycoon 2. Yes, it's a landscape design package! Another good choice at the time was the editor for Bungie's Myth. You might investigate level editors for some current 3D games. |

Is this a normal amount of sap from an apricot tree after pruning? I would like to know what kind of pruning cut you made. What angle is that, downward? Did you prune back to a node (joining place)(good) or leave a stump (bad)? Did you prune an upward tending branch (good) or a weak downward one (should have pruned back further or cut the upward branch.) |
