I'm an amateur gardener who has moved to a property on Lanzarote, off the coast of Africa.

It's a volcanic island with the following attributes:

  • appears to be USDA zone 12b
  • "arid desert" climate
  • maximum average 11 hours of sunshine (in July)
  • no precipitation during the summer
  • strong winds
