Keen amateur gardener - wishing I could live up to my dad (an extreme gardener - with JCB and quarry experience) and my father in law - a professional gardener.

Can I replace my lawn mower's blade with any brand blade? The ones that have a central bolt usually have locating rods or other devices. If it is a single bolt with no other fixings, then you have it easy :-) |

how can I keep snails off my Day Lilies? Good point. I was blaming the lilies, not the slight dampness this summer has brought. |

How can I control growth on a steep hill? Not an answer to your specific question, but I have seen and used a technique to mow these sort of slopes safely: have the mower roped, and you walk along the top of the hill, starting with the mower at the top and letting the ropes out on each pass to mow further down the hill. |

How can I keep spiders out of the shed? Not an answer, but I used to try and keep spiders out of my shed, until I realised they had destroyed a wasp nest that was constructed in one corner. Now I leave the spiders to defend against nastier creatures, and just brush the cobwebs off things that I want kept clear :-) |
