Large, green-skinned and pear-shaped drupe fruit grown on the tree of the same name
Avocado may refer to either the tree or the large drupe that grows on said tree.
Also known as an alligator pear, the avocado fruit has a thick, green skin and contains a large seed.
The avocado tree is native to Central Mexico and classified under the Lauraceae plant family.
